Scope note
Rooms in houses set aside for the care of babies and young children during the night, typically having little furniture beyond bedding for the children, a chair and sometimes a cot or bed for the caretaker, and facilities for washing, bathing, and preparing the infant's bottle or food. Night nurseries were seldom playrooms, however, playrooms and schoolrooms were usually located nearby.
